Cheek Filler Treatment

Cheek filler is an injected treatment, so its steps differ from surgery. An injection visit runs in order: consultation, preparation, injection and aftercare. Timings, risks and results vary with the product, the injector and the patient, so the useful thing at each step is a question to ask rather than an answer.

Before the visit

The filler consultation

Ask who will inject, what their training is and which product is proposed. Ask what the treatment is meant to change and how many visits are planned.

Who should inject

Some people book filler at a med spa when a surgeon's schedule is full. A plastic surgery society publishes a blog on med spa treatments to consider if your plastic surgeon is booked that frames the questions to ask any injector.

At the visit

Preparation and numbing

Ask whether numbing is used and how the skin is prepared. Ask what the product is and how to confirm it is an approved product. A federal agency page on dermal fillers is a general reference for that question.

The injection

The injector places the product in the planned areas of the cheek. Ask how the areas are chosen and what the injector does if something looks wrong during the visit.

After the visit

Aftercare questions

Ask what to avoid in the first days, what is normal to see and which signs mean you should call right away. Ask who to contact out of hours.

Safety reading

Filler carries safety questions that you should raise with the injector. A journal article on vascular occlusion after hyaluronic acid filler injection discusses one such concern in clinical terms. Ask the injector how they would recognize and respond to it.

Choosing the injector before the product

Choose the injector before the product, and ask the same questions at each practice you consider. If you are in Redmond, bring your list to the consultation. A licensed clinician should assess your own face before any injection.
